7.00 (above average) | Tremendously funny romance between a arrogant-childish man and a mature down to earth girl.

8.00 (good) | I know a little about the books, but I never actually read them. When I realised that there was this movie directed by Goro (Miyazaki-sensei's son) I thought: "Hey! This has to be awesome!". I saw it and... I didn't like it that much. The art is absolutely gorgeous, like eveything that Ghibli does, but I was a little bit dissapointed with the plot: it's good enough, but the adaptation (or maybe the story itself, I don't know) lacks with passion and depth that characterizes every Miyazaki's stories.

4.00 (below average) | Oh my God, this is like a cocktail of cliches! Basically, I think this series follows the porn method: what actually matter are the boobs, the sexual games, and the fighting... nevermind the story, any simplistic plot is good enough to present these main characters. You have the busty chicks, the ass-kicking... why would you need a real meaning storyline, huh? C'mon!

9.75 (excellent) | Another anime institution, if you ask me. Escaflowne is one of those series that every otaku or beginner should watch. In my opinion, every scene, every turn of events, every act is well justified, so you don't get the nasty feeling of something missing. I don't give it the 10 because I wanted to see at least one freaking kiss with Van!!!! (I don't think that I'd be wrong if I said that all of us fans melted and screamed with Allen in the bridge... O.O Am I right, am I right?) In the end is a marvellous story. The music? Kanno and Mizoguchi made up a love story of their own!

9.75 (excellent) | Absolutely adorable <3! At first I knew about this movie as a Ghibli's and Miyazaki-sensei's fan, then I knew that this was based on a series of children's fantasy novels (written since the 1950's by a British author). I saw some reviews and the opposition between them confused me, so I had to see it. Maybe it doesn't have the symbolical depth of other Miyazaki's films, but you have to watch it very carefully to see valuable details in the plot (of course, the art and the music are just exquisite): it's a story for children, for starters, which has the intention of presenting aspects of the world maybe unknown for them or even too close to them (being tiny, defenseless, to be afraid of the big people, to be apart from your family, to be alone, to be powerless, to see your world being torn...). This is no new matter, we've seen it in Jonathan Swift's "GULLIVER'S TRAVELS" (the Lilliputian people or, in the other way around, the Brobdignagian people), more recently it is also the main theme in Terry Pratchett's "TRUCKERS" (those witty gnomes steal your heart), and even Studios Ghibli with POM POKO. But that's not all; you may even see it as a metaphore from the cultural studies point of view or the ecologycal point of view, you name it! This is no shallow work, it's not incomplete and has lots of possible readings, all of them quite positive for the soul.

8.50 (very good) | Such a lovely movie! The graphic style (as for characters) is a little bit more modern than the usual Ghibli signature, so it looks kinda refreshing. The story is not as deep as it was in the first movie, but it¿s quite cute. I loved that Haru, with the Baron and other cats' help, passed of being a regular/gray/boring high school chick to a cool/self-confident young woman. Those kind of "makeovers" are my favorites :3

9.25 (very good) | I admit it: it's another interpretation of the classical story about the 3 guys and a baby, which we have seen lots of times. However, the setting, the ambiance, the rethorical images, the cold indeference of society and the warm caring of the rejected are very well played: you can feel it and it's very easy to be moved to tears and then, to a happy smile ^_^

3.00 (poor) | I admit that I have a weakness for the bishounen type and nice masculine voices, so I'm still watchin' this even it's such a baaaaad, lame, cheesy story. I have a theory about the male-harem heroine: she's supposed to be grey, pusillanimous, weak, whiny, etcetera, so the female viewers may take the "heroine" place in her own mind. Spooky merchandising tactic, isn't it? Of course, I'm offended by the idea of presenting the Pop-Idol world as the maximum of music, but meh... We're not going to pull that thread, are we? I decided just to play along and enjoy the cute faces and sexy deep voices. (Although sometimes, with some scenes, I couldn't help to emulate the homophobic seal: "GAAAAAY!" xDDDD)

10.00 (excellent) | I used to watch some Slam Dunk episodes when I was a child and I wasn't attracted at all. When I bumped in with Vagabond, I was like: "Fuck sake! Who made this golden marvel?" Of course, I was shocked when I learned that it was the same person. Working on national historical chapters is always difficult, to write a historical novel with the right amount of realitiy and fiction about a certain character is even more difficult, to make a whole manga based on that very novel is quite a challenge and Inoue-sensei accepted it. To even look at every frame is a delight and the graphical descriptions of action and philosophy is truly a religious experience.

10.00 (excellent) | This rating and following opinion are about the movie Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. A magnificent work of art from every angle: the story, the art, the music, the voices, the scenes... You name it and you get it! (And if you're a Bram Stoker's DRACULA fan, you'll have a pleasent surprise when you recognize many of its referents). I used to think about vampires as a very interesting group, but with all the Twilight-Vampire Diaries-Easy-light-Best seller crap I began to dislike them. This is one of the few movies that I really respect.

5.00 (moderate) | Meh... I kinda like the art, but the story is pretty stereotypical: good looking guys, strict hierarchy, S/M attitudes, love triangle, heavy issues... There are some scenes with a lot of spice and could have work for better, but no... things kept very predictable and "twilighty".

8.50 (very good) | I recently found out that this series is actually a reinterpretation from another homonymous manga. When I read it, I didn't know. There are, of course, many details to critizise (like, for instance, it's not quite clear the reasons behind the relationship between Inugami and Aoshika-sensei... or the excessive smut which's not always justifiable), but buttomline is a pretty good story: as a Wolves-Lycanthropes fan, I must aknowledge that the authors do care about redeeming these noble animals and portraiting the brutality of humans.

10.00 (excellent) | A fine statement about distopia, memory and postmodernism. (My god!!! Don't make me start on Kanno-sensei's magic *¬*!!!) Although the manga and the anime differ in lots of detail (narrativewise), the final message is powerful in both (In my opinion is better to have seen the anime first and then to read the manga. Otherwise is heart torning...D:) When the time seems at its end, is only natural to return to the beginning, to the roots: in a distant future where existance has no meaning or porpuse but to perpetuating itself, old believes and perspectives come forth. It's not gratuitous that the main characters were wolves; amidst cold technology and humans with no self-consciousness they are the only voilce that make sense, they represent the natural truth of movement and change.

7.00 (above average) | Osakabe Mashin is very weird.... All her stories (just like Shinjo-sensei's) contains smut material, but everything starts with forced sex or proper rape (the degree of violence is the difference). She has neat art, no doubt, but the message, as far as I'm corcerned, is dispicable. I mean, if a female reader wants to spice things a little and add the "smut" to her "shoujo" readings... why the hell does always have to be rape involved? Besides, the chicks are always the same: weak, suffered, mixed-signals senders, foolish, with no dignity whatsoever (well... with some exceptions) or totally disgusting skanks. What's that about? Sex can be fun, right? A girl also should be able to express her desires and to say no clearly. What's the point of having a partner if you have to endure issues all by yourself? (Note aside: the only character that I truly loved was Wakasa Aki <3<3<3<3!)

3.00 (poor) | Watched it with difficulties. I've read the manga as far as it goes (I like and respect Katsura-sensei's work!) so I hated what they did in the anime. It was such a pitiful waste to use such a beautiful voice like Mamoru Miyano's in a character as annoying as Kouga >:C

8.00 (good) | This was my first Watase-sensei manga and I loved it! There are a few details with which I don't agree (like the kinda excessive puritanism of Riiko and stuff), but all together is just lovely, Knight could well be an absolute boyfriend: he's kind, reliable, handsome, tender, cute, kinky, considerate, loyal, strong, funny, patient... he has everything! I love Watase's prototype of ideal man... her female characters... not so much.
