7.00 (above average) Awesome art, awesome characters but the story.... *sigh* is kinda weak. There's no valid storyline (for me) that glues all the elements together, so, many of the situations make little sense. The jokes are ok and we fans get a fair dose of shounen-ai, that's cool!, but I don't think it's enough to pull this thing off.

9.00 (very good) This is such an intense movie, that is one of the few that I don't want to watch ever again :C It's excellent, but Isao Takahata's style is too painful for someone like me. I've read and seen some things about WWII as how the civilians felt it and it just breaks my heart... so, to put them an actual face, the call them by a name, to know what they went through until they died... I just can't. D-':>

Gravitation

Last Updated: Apr 25, 2012

4.00 (below average) I know that Murakami-sensei must be quite an institution already, but I never liked Gravitation. I first read the manga, which didn't convince me for two main reasons: 1) Shuichi was crazy (not in the way I like); he's loud, contradictious, whiny, needy... ugh! and 2) the fact that both Eiri and Shuichi had to hurt each other to "prove" their love. I don't know, the way I see it, being gay in this homophobic world is still hard enough to, in addition, teach people around the false idea of them only growing sick relationships.
The anime was too fast, with too many loose ends and very little coherence.

3.00 (poor) Meh.... same thing as in High School of the Dead: big boobs, sexual hints and a lead playboy character. There are a few interesting details such as the magic, the multidimension stuff and I do thank the eye treat with Akatsuki's tough, strong, muscular body... but that's as far as it goes. The chick? Bleh! I mean, you're the daughter of a Demon King from another world... and you behave like a regular jackoff school girl???? Give me a break! It could have been something really cool and different! This is waaaaay too predictable.

7.75 (good) Shinsengumi Kitan, Hekkeretsu Roku, Sekkaroku and now Reimeiroku, I've followed up the entire series. I just adore the character design and the seductive job made by the seiyuus. The historical part is pretty well glued together and it have nice twists. Buuut... Personally, I find very disturbing how they can take historical characters and sell them as a piece of meat to feed girls' fantasies (I don't imagine that with the national heroes from my homeland!). Don't get me wrong! I like how they look and enjoy drooling after a while of watching and hearing them (they're endearing characters after all), but to know that they represent important personalities for Japan's history makes me shiver. I do not know much about it and I believe that (like in every nation) people stand on different sides as for interpretations, so I can't say anything for that matter. However, I do recognize the tragic scenes where Hijikata realizes that they're just dispensable tools to politicians (a tragic truth for so many!) and when Saito shows that clothing and being lefthanded has nothing to do with honor and capability (being a lefty myself I loved this part xD). The chick's role? Oh, yeah, a total waste of space!

9.00 (very good) Such a lovely storyyyyy!!! <3<3<3<3<3 I admit that I was getting tired of yaoi and shounen-ai (basically, 'cause I'd like to see those cute romances and saucy scenes between a man and a woman too!), but this manga returned me my love for this genre. It's not that dramatic, it's very sexy and quite full of love (Misaki and Arikawa show it with no effort!). They accept their mutual love and they are willing to find new ways of showing it. Plot, dialogues, art: just adorable!!!!!

5.75 (average) At first, it was a revelation for me to see zombies in anime. It looked quite promising, then... all the ecchi stuff blew it. I mean, like everyone else I do enjoy a nice dose of kinky stuff, but this was exaggerated ad absurdum, specially when it comes to boobs. Come on, people! Why do they always have to look and move like if they were latex water balloons? They can look sexy even respecting real anatomy and physics!

4.00 (below average) I do appreciate the eye treat, but I don't care for the chick very much (basically, 'cause she doesn't have character) and the male-harem formula is way too obvious. It was just 13 episodes and that's it! Nothing happened and they didn't even exploid Ryou Kutani D:<!!! Such a weak plot, seriously... Such a waste of goooood elements. Anyway, the very idea of having a bunch of cute guys just for your protection/amusement/pleasure/whatever... never gets old xD (I laugh so much with the fanservice at the end of every chapter xDDDD).
Now, the second season is on... it's soooooooooo boring! And now, everyone (except for Ryou) has gotten even more whiny! I never thouht that could be even possible... -_-'

6.75 (above average) The series had a lot of elements to be very interesting and actually good, but I think that most of them fade away in the plot, which is a shame. Taikobou's quest parts from Chinese mythology, I understand that; they merge those motifs with strange tech, I accept that, I even enjoy the eye treat with a few of the male characters, but the plot is kinda incomplete. Or at least, it feels that way :/

9.75 (excellent) Aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww DDD':!!! Such a delightful and sad storyyyyy! It just an OVA that lasts only 45 minutes, and yet, its content is far more valuable and meaningful than series of a zillion chapters. I resented a little the strucks with the stick... but that putted aside, everything was just adorable: the ambiance, the first-person narrating, the development of the relationship... That's what I call love, dammit! T^T The end is so full of poetry and hope... I cried my eyes out with sadness and joy at the same time TT___TT

9.50 (excellent) Again, if it's Miyazaki TM, I'll buy it gladly! I gotta say, it's pretty hard to make a valuable adaptation from a book (tons of people have failed in that task), but this just feels right. The aesthetics, the ambience, the plot, the endearing characters... what's not to love? Every element works just fine. Maybe it's not as poetical as Spirited Away, but it's still an adorable love story.

Hummm... these smells like a pitiful disaster.

9.00 (very good) Lovely, lovely! I don't understand why every single heroine on Watase-sensei's mangas always has to be bullied... but whatever. I liked the sense of friendship of Tanpopo and her struggle against stuck up rich kids xD. I appreciated the fact that she was kinda clueless about the romantic stuff and were kind to everyone; in addition, it was pretty cool that the guy wanted to grow and deserve Tanpopo -^_^-

9.50 (excellent) A beatiful manga! Machika and Rain grow and learn together, they do not fall into dubious nor hurtful games; they need each other and that's that. I love the characters, their personalities, their relationships, the plot... Sweet tragedy by Ozaki-sensei that reveals her stand on life itself. It's remarkable how does she evolve through time, since the short stories compiled in Knife to Immortal Rain and Touhou shinigami... She parted from a very sad and painful place into a more forgiving one (and that's what you see in Metheor Methusselah). As a matter a fact, she herself writes about having a deep conversation with her editor, where she said this words: "I draw [and write] because I want to be forgiven". The editor said he had understood perfectly.

9.75 (excellent) This is one those indisputable proofs when it comes to the magic of image and music. I'm no electronical music fan, but these Daft Punk guys pull it off pretty well with this. There's absolutely no spoken line and yet you can understand every situation with no problem just by watching and listening. What a delight! Of course, the tragical element can't miss on Toei's productions TT__TT

8.50 (very good) I do not care for slavery, servilism and self-humiliation. I absolutely do not. That's the reason for which I started watching this series with reluctance. However, I had a nice surprise when the feelings of Ririchiyo made her think about her own place in the world. I appreciate when a girl have a firm character -without falling in tsundere issues- and do know when to ask for help. Normally, relationships depicted in this kind of series tend to be destructive and sick, so it was quite nice to see that both Ririchiyo and Miketsukami wanted to improve themselves and deserve each other. The same comment applies for the manga (which I'm still in the process of reading).

7.00 (above average) It's a thrilling story, certainly! However, there are some parts that I don't like at all, of which I'll mention just the main one: if there's something I hate is the comparison between different people; for me it's just an awful and cruel offense to be seen and loved because you "resamble" someone else from the past. I pitied Kagome all the time for this fact and I always thought: "C'mon, you dog! Grow a pair and admit what you feel!" That's why I preferred the wolf dude.

8.75 (very good) Of course I love yaoi! My first approaches were some Saint Seiya fanfictions, from that point... I lost my innocence xDDDD Personally, I don't agree with the fact that almost every gay relationship depicted in anime is conflictive and tortuous (I've met couples who live in peace with each other, sure, they must have their dissagreements, but they're basically happy). My favorite couple from this series is Hiro-Nowaki, 'cause they actually evolve: Nowaki grows stronger and more secure about himself and Hiro slowly forgets about his unrecquinted love and discarts some tsundere scales from his heart.

8.00 (good) It's a good series. I liked Usui specially 'cause it was like a mix of various prototypical character: he's misterious, but not too solemn, he's sexy and playful, trustworthy, skillful and veeery patient. I liked Misaki, but I'm getting tired of this tsundere stuff. She's smart, strong, confident and caring, no doubt about it... but it bugs me that these extraordinary girls may be so annoying when it comes to romance (althogh it could be explanable considering the story of Misaki's father). I mean, to make a stand in front of the jerks who abuse women and to show them that we are not weak, that's the right thing to do, but fortunately, not all men are scumbags. I just think that you should treat people as they treat you... if a guy is sweet, considerate and has given you tons of evidence of his good intentions, why should you insult him and drive him away? (*cough* Commitment issues...*cough*) If you have seen Full Metal Panic and Ouran High School Club, you'll feel quite familiar with this series.

7.75 (good) After lots of series where the main character "never gave up" and always did "his/her best" and "followed their hearts" I just got tired of the same little speech. But then I watched Kaleido Star and met Sora. Maybe it's because I'm a huge fan of Cirque du Soleil or something, but I felt really moved by her efforts and ideal image of what's a real spectacle. I don't know, just to see those people perform for the sake of the public and their entertainment... to know that they dedicate their lives to put smiles on people's faces... that's why I loved KS.

9.00 (very good) Interesting and funny! xD I don't think the main elements are quite original, but the humor gives to this series a nice twist. I kinda like Nanami, she's very cool ^_^ and Tomoe has this badass aura, but not as tsundere as Inuyasha (a very close referent, for that matter). Quite lovely story <3 (of course, it more cute and complex in the manga).

3.75 (below average) So, the main formula of this mangaka is: 1) present an insecure, indecisive, feable, pretty chick, 2) insert two good-looking male characters (so you can develop a love-triangle); one, a tsundere jackass and the other sweet and gentle guy, 3) stir the conflict a little bit for drama purposes and 4) make the "heroine" love and stick with the one who treats her the worst :D
I think that's the tragedy of Aikawa's stories and one good example of why nices guys nag about friendzoning...

Kino no Tabi

10.00 (excellent) A work of art as for the philosophical and poetical point of view. It's quite evident the influence of Zen and Shinto in the way of contemplating the world (which itself is a very important statement: to contemplate is to observe attently, to understand what you are watching). The fact that Kino doesn't get too involve is that she tries no to attach herself to nothing 'cause in the end, everything changes and may well vanish. What I like is how she transform her own reality according to her dreams. She inherits a new name, she learn how to travel, she learns how to fight, she even switch her female register to a male one but she do not deny or hide her woman condition. That's how I feel it.

7.00 (above average) Me gustaaaaa when I find a good ecchi manga xD! I liked this because the girls not always make the suffering/pain faces whenever they do it and because they honestly reach the point when the say what they like. It's always refreshing when some taboos that serve as well as fetishes fall apart: I like it more when women enjoy it, participate actively and talk about it (I suppose that an onsen is the right place for that). The end was a bit dissapointing: too easy, weak and with a few loose ends... Nothing's perfect :/

8.00 (good) My first Minami-sensei manga was Rhapsody in Heaven and I liked it, so I looked for more and saw that this story is the most popular. I wanted to understand why. At first, I must admit the the bullying stuff and the "embarrassment" that Hibino felt every time that Kyouta approached her got on my nerves... but I still felt like reading some more. It's kinda cute: Kyouta started as a total jerk and Hibino as a naive prude, yes, but they try to grow as individuals and as a couple (that's the way it should be!). What I liked the most was the fact that they realized that only through communication and trust, love becomes stronger. I think that most of the situations they go through are quite realistic (but also very cliché): the misunderstandings, the jelousy, the anticipation of the next stage, the forge of a better personal future... they try to do their best (considering their very twisted sentimental education) to clear things up and be happy together and to become each other's strength.

7.50 (good) My first Minami-sensei manga. Actually, it is pretty good and I strongly appreciated the ecchi touch in the shoujo dynamic (*smirk*). It's a simple story, really. Of course, I was shocked about some situations (how in the world could that happen in high-school???), but as for the rest, they're quite nice. What I absolutely don't like about Minami-sensei's story's is that, on one hand, her female characters are usually very annoying, weak and prude, and in the other, her weird liking of forced sex :S
